SESAME NOODLES.
“ A QUICK SUNDAY MEAL”
Prep time: 30 min
All you need :
Spaghetti (or substitute for any noodle you prefer)
2 stalks of bok choy
1/2 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp soy sauce
2 tbs hot water
1 small red onion
2 garlic cloves (smashed and finely chopped)
Few pieces of shiitake mushrooms (sliced)
2 scallions (sliced)
1tsp sesame seed (toasted)
Salt
vegetable oil
Directions:
1. Mix the oyster sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, and water in a bowl; it should reach a thick-paste consistency. Once done, keep it aside.
2. Start toasting the sesame seeds in a pan for 1-2 mins over low heat, and keep aside to cool.
3. Blanch the bok choy and keep aside.
4. Boil the spaghetti in a pot for 11 mins until Al dente.
5. Let’s make the sesame sauce while the spaghetti cooks. Add oil to a pan and stir fry the garlic and onion. After 3 mins, add the shiitake mushrooms, and stir fry until they soften. Next, add in the thick paste made earlier, and give it all a good stir on medium heat.
6 . Drain the cooked spaghetti and add immediately to the sesame sauce. Add in the toasted sesame seeds, and toss the spaghetti until well coated. Taste for salt.
Let’s Plate:
1.Place the noodles in a bowl with the bok choy and sprinkle the sliced scallions.
